the sooner, the better

As we were chillin' at home tonight--Lou napping, Rico wandering aimlessly, Ella coloring, Tom at school, and me avoiding the mess in the kitchen--I decided to put on some music. I pulled up Pandora {I'm a huge fan, can I just say?} and turned on some calm, soothing Josh Groban {yum!-to the ear that is}.

Ella promptly asked if I could turn on some Christmas music, and I happily complied, and created a brand-new, holiday-themed station. We're almost a full month earlier than last year, but I feel good about it.

And I don't think it will last throughout the month, {especially not when Tom's home,} but I guess we'll see.

I would like relate a little experience that I just had. It is centered around the reading of this article. I started off excited and happy that you had written a new post (don't tell your running buddy, but she needs to stay crippled...nothing personal)! I was excited to see that you too were a fan of Pandora (just don't listen to it for more than 40 hours in a month...they will try to charge you)! I was even okay with Josh Groba, because he's got mad skills. Then I got to the 2nd paragraph....yeah...you know what's coming. You probably knew what was coming before you even posted this. You most likely giggled in glee at the prospect of my reaction to the fact that you were listening to Christmas music 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE MONTH OF DECEMBER!!! My face, which had once born the contended smile of a happy brother slowly fell into the sorrowful face of one who has tried so hard to educate others in the ways of righteousness...and failed. Feelings of revulsion and guile swelled up my throat as I fought back the urge to upchuck my chicken and rice. I don't think that I will be able to talk to you again without shuddering. The one good thing that came out of this nightmarish experience: I know what (and specifically who) I am fasting for next month (and every Sunday in between).

I love the Josh Groban station on Pandora. Oh, and the Taylor Swift station. And Mo Tab and Christmas... yes, I love pandora too. And I think it is great your listening to Christmas music already. We usually start when it gets cold outside. It just feels like Christmas once the holiday season starts.

Uh-oh. You're one of THOSE people. Just kidding. I'm beginning to see the value in starting my Christmas shopping NOW so I can get some good deals and save money. Christmas music, though? Give me a month.
